The unidentified Millbrook resident told authorities last October that Max N. Sandmeier had traded $40,000 in his stocks and had benefited financially from the sale, state police said.

Sandmeier, 49, of Walden in Orange County, was arrested on Friday, March 3, and charged with third-degree grand larceny, first-degree identify theft, and first-degree falsifying business records, all felonies.

State police based in Poughkeepsie also accused Sandmeier of unlawfully opened credit cards using his client’s Social Security number.

Sandmeier was arraigned in the Town of Stanford Court and sent to Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $7,500 cash bail or $15,000 bond.

He is due to appear in the Town of Washington Court on Monday, March 6.
